Aarhus Unge Tonekunstnere (AUT) presents:
THIS IS GOING WELL
a personal story about identity, self-doubt, and façades by accordionist/performer Jónas Ásgeirsson and artist/composer Sophia Sagaradze.
Jónas and Sophia transform the youth church UngK into an audiovisual representation of Jónas’s inner state of mind, referencing the
self-doubt surrounding his identity as a soloist, artist, and instrumentalist. Come and look behind the scenes, into the inner life of “the Soloist,”
where he can no longer hide behind his instrumental virtuosity—where an incomplete and searching human being is concealed.
The side facing the world is represented by the traditional concert format, in which Jónas performs works, most of which were composed for him.
Gradually, the inner world begins to take over the stage, as the instrumentally virtuosic works by Hugi Guðmundsson, Atli Ingólfsson and
Friðrik Margrétar-Guðmundsson give way to extra-musical, existentially probing works by Marta Śniady, Sóley Sigurjónsdóttir, Andrew Power,
Áslaug Magnúsdóttir, and Jónas himself—where the Soloist is forced to confront his instrument and himself in an entirely new way,
dissecting both to their very core.
This installation-concert is supported by KODA Kultur, Aarhus Kommune og Fondet for Dansk-Islandsk Samarbejde
