Concert for Composer/Performer

27/6 | 20:00 | UngK, Aarhus

Aarhus Unge Tonekunstnere (AUT) & Current Resonance present Concert for Composer/Performer, a performance that reflects on
how one can idiomatically compose a concerto for the increasingly prevalent role of the composer/performer
(a composer who composes works for themself to perform).

This collaboration initiated by composer/curator Dylan Richards, and starring composer/performer Michael Hope touches on a constellation
of topics ranging from the authenticity of personal artistic expression to the heirarchy embedded in collaborative power dynamics while
continually examing what it means to perform the identity of composer both on and off stage.

Dylan Richards is a composer, curator, and performer based in Denmark.
His artistic practice is rooted in notions of curation as composition and his works explore the space bewteen internet culture,
event production, and multimedia music. He is the co-director of MINU_festival_for_expanded_music.

Michael Hope is a UK-born composer based in Denmark. His output ranges from solo instrumental works to large-scale orchestral works
and everything in between, often with an emphasis on multimedia, performativity and music theatre. Current areas of compositional focus
include re-evaulations of the performance spectacle, a conceptual approach towards media selection and misuse, as well as examinations
into the relationship between production and consumption, and the inevitable emergence of waste, repition and cliché that arises from
such a relationship.

Founded in 2019, Current Resonance is a composer / performer ensemble, based in Denmark, producing meticulously curated events of
intermedial music in a vareity of settings.

This concert is produced by AUT and realized with support from: Dansk Komponist Forening/KodaKultur, Aarhus Kommune, and Statens Kunstfond.
